Carellata di News:
1-Sept. 18 -- Boeing Co.'s 12-month share price projection was cut by a Banc of America Securities LLC analyst on concern the planemaker may be late in delivering its first 787 Dreamliner.
Robert Stallard, in a note to clients today, reduced his projection of how much the stock will rise in the next year by $17 to
$114 a share. He cited comments made yesterday by Boeing Chief Financial Officer James Bell at a Bank of America investor conference on how a delay in the plane's first flight reduces the company's room for error in flight testing and raises the risk it might miss its May delivery target.
``
Bell's comments have reinforced our view that there is still significant risk on the 787 program,'' the New York-based Stallard wrote. ``We think that stock price upside will be limited until Boeing makes more progress on 787, most notably on the first flight.''
2- HONG KONG -- Boeing Co. said
Chinese airlines will need 3,400 new planes valued at about $340 billion in the next 20 years on the expectation passenger demand in China will continue to soar.
The forecast is 18% higher than the estimate the aircraft maker made last year, when it said China would need 2,880 ...
3- Boeing's Tinseth Expects Market Share in China to Hold Steady
Sept. 19 -- Randy Tinseth, vice president of commercial airplane marketing at Boeing Co., comments on the outlook for the aviation industry in China and the progress on the company's 787 Dreamliner jet.
Boeing, the biggest supplier of airplanes to China, yesterday raised its 20-year market forecast for the country by 21 percent to $340 billion as Chinese air travel expands at the fastest pace worldwide.
On the outlook for China:
``We expect to hold our market share at where it is today. It is going to be a challenge but we think we have the right products and the right strategies as we move into the future.
``When you take a look at the China and India market and you combine those two, we're talking demand of something like 4,500 planes over the next 20 years and that's going to account for about 50 percent of all the demand in the Asia regions.''
On the possibility of China arising as a competitor in the aircraft-manufacturing industry:
``
It's hard to see where our next competitor will come from, whether it will be China or whether it will be Russia or any other part of the world. We do expect that in the future that another country will rise and have the capability to build an airplane about the same size as the 737 or A320. So what we need to do to be successful is focus on our customers. We have to ensure we have the right strategy, invest in technology and finally we have to work every day to get the cost out of our airplane so we could be the preferred supplier.
``I think that the one thing Boeing has done very well is focus on what our customers want whether that be reliability or better operating costs or fuel efficiency.''
On the delay of the first test flight for 787:
``Right now we're getting the first airplane ready for flight. We're targeting out first flight sometime in mid-November to mid-December and then we're going to have to work really hard in our flight-test program to ensure that we
meet our first delivery to All Nippon Airways in May of 2008.
``The two things we're working on right now is that the flight-control software was a little bit behind schedule. That's being finished and tested right now. As part of the manufacturing process of the 787, we're getting larger, more complete parts from some of our supply base and some of that came into our facilities. So we're working through to ensure that each of the parts in the sections work and it has taken a little bit longer than expected.''
