Being compliant with the local regulatory requirements means that we occasionally need to update our Terms of Use. We’ve added some provisions about your representation in opening and using your Bitstamp account (in the Keep your Information Up-To-Date section). In this regard, we would kindly ask you to inform us, without delay, of any subsequent changes to the information about yourself (including directors, key personnel and beneficial owners in case of legal entity) provided during the registration and verification process.
Additionally, by amending our Fee Schedule, we are introducing the inactivity fee for inactive Bitstamp accounts. Bitstamp will have a right to charge you an inactivity fee (10 EUR per month) in case your account balance is less than 200 EUR and no transaction initiated by you or other activity generating rewards occurred in the last 12 months. In case of such inactivity on the account with zero balance, Bitstamp will reserve the right to terminate the account.
You can see a complete list of changes here and updated Terms of Use here.
In case you do not agree with these changes, you have the right to close your Bitstamp account at any time without charge. If you want to do so, please contact us at support@bitstamp.net before August 6, 2022, and we will close your account immediately. If we don’t hear from you by this date, we will assume you have accepted the changes.
All changes will come into effect on August 6, 2022, and will be available under SA Terms of Use. If you have any questions regarding these changes, please do not hesitate to contact our team at support@bitstamp.net and we’ll be happy to help.

We will NOT be introducing the inactivity fee
A few days ago, you received an email from us regarding changes to our fee structure, specifically the introduction of an inactivity fee for accounts that met certain criteria. Please disregard this email, your account has not been charged and we will not be introducing the inactivity fee.
At Bitstamp, our customers and the security of your funds are our first priority. We strive to offer you the best crypto service and that also means listening to your feedback. After hearing from our community we understand your concerns and changed course.
We are sorry if this caused any inconvenience and thank you for choosing us as your crypto exchange.
Probabilmente in molti hanno fatto come me
We’re working around the clock to improve our service and updating our Terms of Use is part of our diligence.
Here’s a rundown of what’s new as of August 18, 2022:
New pricing
Starting August 18, we’re introducing a 0% trading fee for your total trading volume of up to $1,000 (or equivalent) over the past 30 days, counting from the moment you make your first trade.
We’re switching our trading fees to the maker-taker model. A maker is providing liquidity on the platform, and a taker is taking away liquidity from the platform, i.e., selling and buying instantly. The maker and taker fees vary and depend on the total trading volume.
Check the Fee Schedule with the new pricing model for more details.
New features
Things just got even easier – We’re introducing two new ways of purchasing crypto:
Apple Pay and Google Pay: Soon you’ll be able to buy crypto using the popular payment services
SimpleBuy: A faster and easier way to purchase crypto without placing orders and waiting for execution
Regulatory changes
We’re adding some additional provisions about complaints, confidentiality, and risks and treatment of crypto assets in Luxembourg.
Airdrop alerts
Sometimes crypto projects decide to release free new tokens to holders of their native tokens to promote awareness of a new cryptocurrency. We might send you alerts about such token airdrops to your Bitstamp account in the future.
Check out the updated Terms of Use for more info.
Changes to tick sizes
Improving liquidity by narrowing spreads and adjusting tick sizes is a way of enhancing your trading experience and is something we work hard on. The tick size is the minimum change in the unit price and requires occasional optimization. This time, we’re changing the tick sizes for certain pairs.
If you don’t agree with these changes, you have the right to close your Bitstamp account at any time and without charge. If you want to do so, please contact us at support@bitstamp.net before August 18, 2022, and we will close your account immediately. If we don’t hear from you by then, we will assume you have accepted the changes.
