Brest cancer trial
Taswoman Comments (2) Thanks folks on the good wishes... and yes, I keep in touch with as many as I can and I've also become friends with one of the researchers running the study I'm in. I was "lucky" being only Stage 1, but being Her2Neu positive is not a 'good' thing. I decided to forgo the Herceptin (Chemo) and opted for 7 weeks of radiation and Femera (pill) for 5 years along with the AE37 clinical trial. All seems well for now and hoping it continues that way. I will be 3 years cancer free this April. So far, side effects have been so minimal that they really aren't worth mentioning.... but here goes: quick spike in body temp right after injection.. up to around 100 for about 20 minutes, then back to normal; minor dizziness for some people and itching at the injection site 1-2 days later.... sort of like a mosquito bite. To me, this is much better than 2 years of Herceptin which kills everything, even the good cells. My oncologist trained under Dr. Peoples who is the PI of the study so I know I'm in good hands. There is a lot of "internal" excitement about the interim results, so I think that is why they are expanding the patient population. Let me know if you have any more questions.
devo scappare, bye
