Fixed Income Arbitrage: Pioneer Alternative Investments Shutters Second Hedge Fund

Bloomberg reports UniCredito's Pioneer Alternative Investments plans to close a second hedge fund after losing money. The Pioneer Global Opportunities fund, which has assets of 153 million euros ($200 million), will shut next month,according to Chief Executive Alberto La Rocca. Pioneer is revamping its 4 billion-euro hedge fund business after some of its funds failed to meet targets last year. La Rocca has shut the underperforming funds and named Luca Mengoni as chief investment officer. Pioneer plans to open a global long-short equity fund and may start a credit fund, La Rocca said.
