Moody's Investors Service on Thursday affirmed its "A3" long-term rating on American International Group Inc. after the insurance giant announced a plan to repay its government bailout money.

An "A3" rating is considered investment grade.

THE SPARK: As part of AIG's exit plan, the U.S. Treasury Department will swap preferred shares it currently holds in AIG for common stock and then sell those shares over time. AIG will also repay loans it received from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as part of the deal.

THE BIG PICTURE: AIG was one of the hardest hit financial companies by the economic meltdown and got the government's largest bailout package. The government received an 80 percent stake in the company in return.

THE ANALYSIS: Moody's analyst Bruce Ballentine said the repayment plan signals the stabilization of AIG's core business. But he also noted that the plan "hastens the end of explicit government support" for the company, which has been a consideration in the company's ratings.

Io son riuscito a prenderla con webank che fino a pochi mesi fa non la trattava...

Che ne pensate? Può essere un bond interessante?
