Lui deve salvare i lavoratori... |

Delphi gets two-week delay to reach bankruptcy exit deal
David Shepardson / Detroit News Washington Bureau Washington -- Delphi Corp. will get another two-week extension to try to complete a plan to emerge from bankruptcy, after a key hearing on its restructuring plan was delayed today. The auto supplier had faced a hearing this morning in U.S. Bankruptcy Court after it again failed to reach agreement with the U.S. Treasury and General Motors Corp. -- its former parent -- on a plan that would allow it to leave bankruptcy after 43 months under court protection. The hearing is now set for May 21. Delphi is working with its lenders, GM and the Treasury Department, "to agree on a sensible and practical reconfiguration of the milestones relating to modifications" of its plan to emerge from bankruptcy, said Delphi lawyer Jack Butler. GM and the Obama administration have blamed Delphi's creditors for stalling a deal that would let Delphi emerge from bankruptcy. The Treasury has blocked a deal to allow GM to buy Delphi's steering business for $150 million, under its broad authority to approve or reject major GM transactions, including all deals of $100 million or more. Delphi now has until May 21 to complete a term sheet, and its loans would terminate on June 2, effectively forcing the Troy-based auto supplier into liquidation without another extension. GM said today it has set aside $12.5 billion to pay for Delphi-related expenses, including assuming some of its pension obligations. _________________________ http://www.detnews.com/article/20090...ptcy+exit+deal |
