A proposito di insider trading, leggere cosa e' accaduto NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- The Swiss franc shot to a three-month high Monday after the Swiss National Bank's chairman resigned, though the currency's gains proved short-lived.

The currency surged to CHF1.2106 against the euro, its highest point since Sept. 20, after Philipp Hildebrand resigned amid allegations that his wife was trading currencies just before the central bank acted to weaken the franc.

Hildebrand's abrupt exit briefly raised doubts about the central bank's ability to maintain the CHF1.20 floor on the euro-franc exchange rate set in September.

However, the franc fell back as the central bank said it would continue to defend the floor.

The euro traded at CHF1.2120 late Monday, which was its lowest level since Sept. 20, according to EBS via CQG. The dollar fell to CHF0.9492 from CHF0.9551 late Friday.

Wall Street Watchman: EURCHF: Swiss Franc Peg with Euro an analysis

EURCHF: Swiss Franc Peg with Euro an analysis
The recent resignation of SNB chief Hildebrand has drawn attention back to the EURCHF peg. Is the EURCHF peg sustainable? Is it credible? Will it last? Does it make sense? I will try to answer to these questions with the classic WSW approach: macroeconomics analysis, cycle analysis and traders' common sense (something that central bankers often seem to have lost on their way...) .
Having worked for an hedge fund in Switzerland some years ago and living just 30 minutes driving from Switzerland provides me with a particular perspective: if anything I have a good feeling of "real-life" purchasing power parities... something you can only have if you live close to a border.
Where do we start with this analysis?
Let's first read what the SNB has to say about the CHF (from the last SNB quarterly bullettin):

"..Even at the minimum exchange rate of CHF 1.20 per euro, the Swiss franc is still high, and should continue to weaken..."
