INDEPTH: THE BILDERBERG GROUP Informal forum or global conspiracy?

The seed was planted by one man - Joseph Retinger, who left Poland for Britain in 1911 and spent the next three decades working as a political adviser. After the Second World War, he became a leading advocate of the unification of Europe - at least the western part of the continent.

Retinger was alarmed by the growing influence of Soviet-style communism and a rising tide of anti-Americanism in Western Europe. In 1952, he persuaded Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and Belgian Prime Minister Paul Van Zeeland to help him organize an international conference. Prominent business people and politicians from several European countries and the United States would be invited. The goal: To provide a forum where influential people could meet and talk about ways that help promote understanding on both sides of the Atlantic - and prevent future wars.

They met at the Hotel de Bilderberg near Arnhem in the Netherlands for two days in May. The conference was deemed such a success that the group pledged to make it an annual event. They adopted the location of their first meeting place as the name of their new group.

The idea was to create an informal network of influential people who could consult each other privately and confidentially. They could focus on what their countries had in common and bounce ideas off each other that could make life better for everyone.

The group decided that it would invite 100 of the most powerful people in Europe and North America every year to meet behind closed doors at a different five-star resort. The group stresses secrecy: What's said at a Bilderberg conference stays at a Bilderberg conference. The organization says that encourages members to talk frankly, without the worry that what they say will wind up in the news.

Several high-profile journalists have been invited over the years - again, on the understanding that they must not report on the proceedings. Break the rule and you're not invited back.

Skeptics argue that the secrecy means Bilderberg members can spend their private time hatching plans to control the world politically and economically, ensuring that the rich and powerful maintain their grip on the levers of power while the rest of the population is enslaved to keep the economic machinery running. Bilderbergers, some have argued, have withheld cancer cures so as not to anger the global pharmaceutical industry. They've also kept technology out of the public domain that would allow cars to travel 75 kilometres on a litre of gas. Big Oil, apparently, would not approve.

The group has assembled at least three times in Canada, most recently June 8 to 11 this year at the Brookstreet Hotel in the Ottawa suburb of Kanata. According to a Bilderberg news release, prominent Canadians invited to the 2006 conference included former New Brunswick premier Frank McKenna, Paul Desmarais, CEO of Power Corporation, Gordon Nixon, president and CEO of the Royal Bank of Canada, and Heather Reisman, chair and CEO of Indigo Books.

They got to mingle with the likes of Iraqi politician Ahmed Chalabi, former U.S. secretary of state Henry Kissinger, Richard Holbrooke, key American negotiator for 1995 Bosnian peace accords, Richard Perle, senior foreign policy adviser to U.S. President George W. Bush, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, retired banker David Rockefeller, and Johann Koss, Norwegian Olympian and president of the Right to Play organization.

The news release also said some of the topics on the agenda of the Kanata meeting would be energy, Iran, terrorism and European-American relations. There were no news conferences or communiqués as the meeting wound up.

James Tucker - an American libertarian and journalist - has been a critic of the Bilderberg group for decades.

"When meeting last year in Rottach-Egern, Germany, Bilderberg called for dramatic increases in the price of oil. Oil prices started climbing immediately from $40 a barrel to $70," Tucker wrote in the days before the 2006 meeting.

Tucker says the group has used its meetings to organize wars and the overthrow of "unfriendly" leaders. It has also been accused of identifying politicians who are friendly to big business and backing their runs for power. Former U.S. president Bill Clinton spoke at a Bilderberg conference a year before his election victory, as did British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The current chairman, Belgian politician and businessman Etienne Davignon, says the steering committee that organizes the annual get-togethers is excellent at spotting talent.

Former prime ministers Paul Martin, Jean Chretien and Pierre Trudeau also made Bilderberg appearances.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper took in the group's 2003 meeting in Versailles, France, while he was Opposition leader. But Tucker says the Bilderbergers are not pleased with Harper. It's because of Kyoto. The Bilderberg group, Tucker says, is behind the Kyoto Protocol. They're the ones who pushed it. Like they pushed NAFTA and the World Trade Organization - and "turned NATO into the UN's standing army. It's a step," Tucker writes, "on the road to creating world government."

Barack O’Bilderberg: Picking the President

A Background to Bilderberg

Sunday, June 8, 2008, marked the last day of this year’s annual Bilderberg meeting, which took place in Chantilly, Virginia. The American Friends of Bilderberg, an American Bilderberg front group, which organizes the American participant list for the annual Bilderberg conference, issued a rare press release this year. It stated that, "The Conference will deal mainly with a nuclear free world, cyber terrorism, Africa, Russia, finance, protectionism, US-EU relations, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Islam and Iran. Approximately 140 participants will attend."1
Bilderberg, which has been meeting annually since 1954, is a highly secretive international think tank and some say, policy-forming group made up of representatives from North America and Western Europe and was founded by Joseph Retinger, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and Belgian Prime Minister Paul Van Zeeland. The Bilderberg Steering Committee, made up of around 30 people, (with no official list available), "decided that it would invite 100 of the most powerful people in Europe and North America every year to meet behind closed doors at a different five-star resort. The group stresses secrecy: What's said at a Bilderberg conference stays at a Bilderberg conference."2
Usually, the Bilderberg Conference is held in Europe for three years in a row, with the fourth year holding a meeting in North America. However, the previous North American conference was held in 2006 in Ottawa. So why did they break tradition to hold the conference in North America this year? Speculation abounds around a discussion of a possible attack on Iran, the American-centered global financial crisis, as well as the current US Presidential elections.

First Meeting of the Bilderberg in 1954

Bilderberg has long been an important forum for up-and-coming politicians of Western nations to be introduced to the global financial elite; the heads of the major multinational corporations, international banks, world financial institutions, global governing bodies, think tanks, and powerful individuals of the likes of David Rockefeller and various European monarchs, including Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, daughter of founding member, Prince Bernhard, as well as Queen Sofia and King Juan Carlos of Spain.


According to The Globe and Mail, such Canadian Prime Ministers have, in the past, (often before becoming Prime Minister), attended a Bilderberg Conference as a guest, including Pierre Trudeau, Jean Chretien, Paul Martin and Stephen Harper.3 Tony Blair attended Bilderberg before becoming Prime Minister,4 as did the current British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, who also recently called for the establishment of a "new world order."5


Interestingly, as the Washington Post reported, Vernon E. Jordon, a high-powered American executive, who sits on several corporate boards, including American Express, Xerox, J.C. Penney, Dow Jones, and Sara Lee, to name a few, also happens to be a very close friend of former President Bill Clinton. However, "it was Jordan who first introduced then-Gov. Clinton to world leaders at their annual Bilderberg gathering in Germany in 1991. Plenty of governors try to make that scene; only Clinton got taken seriously at that meeting, because Vernon Jordan said he was okay."6 Clinton subsequently became President.


Barack and Bilderberg


Recently, there has been much discussion about Barack Obama having possibly attended the recent Bilderberg conference in Virginia. This speculation arose when Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton sneaked off for a secretive meeting while in Virginia. As the AP reported, "Reporters traveling with Obama sensed something might be happening between the pair when they arrived at Dulles International Airport after an event in Northern Virginia and Obama was not aboard the airplane. Asked at the time about the Illinois senator's whereabouts, [Obama spokesman Robert] Gibbs smiled and declined to comment."7


The press that had been traveling with Obama were not made aware of the secretive meeting until the plane that they assumed Obama would be present on was moving down the runway, prompting many angry questions from the press towards Obama’s spokesman, Robert Gibbs. One reported asked Gibbs, "Why were we not told about this meeting until we were on the plane, the doors were shut and the plane was about to taxi to take off?" to which he responded, "Senator Obama had a desire to do some meetings, others had a desire to meet with him tonight in a private way and that is what we are doing." This preceded another question, "Is there more than one meeting, is there more than one person with whom he is meeting?" Gibbs simply replied, "I am not going to get into all the details of the meeting." He again later repeated that, "There was a desire to do some meetings tonight, he was interested in doing them, others were interested in doing them, and to do them in a way that was private."8


On Friday, June 6, it was reported that Bilderberg tracker, Jim Tucker, "called Obama’s office today to ask if he had attended Bilderberg. A campaign spokeswoman refused to discuss the matter but would not deny that Obama had attended Bilderberg."9


Bilderberg to Pick Obama’s Vice President


As the Financial Times reported in May of this year, Barack Obama appointed James A. Johnson, the former CEO of Fannie Mae, "to head a secret committee to produce a shortlist for his vice-presidential running mate." A short list was discussed by the article, which listed, other than Hillary Clinton, "Jim Webb, the former secretary of the navy, Vietnam veteran and senator for Virginia; Tim Kaine, the governor of Virginia; John Edwards, the former vice-presidential candidate in 2004; Ted Strickland, the governor of Ohio; and Kathleen Sebelius, the governor of Kansas." Other potential nominees include "Sam Nunn, the former chairman of the Senate armed services committee; and Wesley Clark, the former head of Nato in Europe."10
James A. Johnson, the man Obama asked to pick his running mate, played the same role for John Kerry back in 2004, and he selected John Edwards. As the New York Times reported, "Several people pointed to the secretive and exclusive Bilderberg conference of some 120 people that this year drew the likes of Henry A. Kissinger, Melinda Gates and Richard A. Perle to Stresa, Italy, in early June, as helping [Edwards] win Mr. Kerry's heart. Mr. Edwards spoke so well in a debate on American politics with the Republican Ralph Reed that participants broke Bilderberg rules to clap before the end of the session." The Times further reported, "His performance at Bilderberg was important,'' said a friend of Mr. Kerry who was there. ''He reported back directly to Kerry. There were other reports on his performance. Whether they reported directly or indirectly, I have no doubt the word got back to Mr. Kerry about how well he did."11
James A. Johnson, Vice Chairman of Perseus, a merchant banking firm, is also a director of Goldman Sachs, Forestar Real Estate Group, Inc., KB Home, Target Corporation and UnitedHealth Group Inc., is also a member of the American Friends of Bilderberg, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission and is an honorary trustee of the Brookings Institution.12 It is likely that Obama’s running mate will be chosen by Johnson at this years Bilderberg Conference.
Notable among this year’s Bilderberg guests are Kansas Governor, Kathleen Sebelius, who the Financial Times reported was on Johnson’s short list of nominees. In fact, Sebelius is the only person mentioned as a possible running mate in the Financial Times article that was officially listed on the Bilderberg list of attendees.13 Could this be a sign that she may be the chosen one? Time will tell. However, another Democratic politician present at the meeting was Tom Daschle, so perhaps he is working his way back into politics.


Don’t Forget McCain


Just because Obama’s popularity dwarfs that of McCain’s, is not reason enough to ignore the other candidate. After all, the elite never ignore both candidates, and in fact, ensure they have them both neatly packed in their back pockets. Among the guests at the Bilderberg meeting this year, included Republican Governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford, as well as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice,14 which would be a smart political pick for McCain, going up against the first black presidential candidate.
McCain has also received endorsements from former Secretaries of State, Henry Kissinger, General Alexander Haig, Lawrence Eagleburger and George P. Shultz.15 These are not men without influence, as Henry Kissinger and George Shultz were also present at this years meeting.16 Also interesting to note is that George P. Shultz "associated himself with the Bush presidency early on, introducing the Texas governor to Condoleezza Rice at the Hoover Institution in 1998." Could Condi be in the process of being groomed for higher office, or is she simply at the meeting for foreign policy discussions?
Also important to note, is that McCain had a fundraiser in London held for him, which was hosted "by kind permission of Lord Rothschild OM GBE [Order of Merit and the Knight Grand Cross of the British Empire] and the Hon Nathaniel Rothschild." As the Washington Post reported, "Tickets to the invitation-only event cost $1,000 to $2,300."18 The Post later reported, "Aides refused to talk about the fundraiser, or to say how much money was raised, and McCain dashed through the rain away from reporters after emerging. One guest said there were about 100 people at the luncheon. If they all gave the maximum, the event would have raised about $230,000 for the campaign."19

IL GRUPPO BILDERBERG HA IN PROGRAMMA LA DEPRESSIONE ECONOMICA

Gli elitisti sono divisi [sul da farsi] - se far affondare l’economia velocemente rimpiazzandola con un nuovo ordine mondiale, o innescare una lunga e agonizzante depressione.

Alla vigilia della conferenza annuale del Gruppo Bilderberg, che si terrà dal 14 al 17 maggio 2009 presso l’hotel a cinque stelle Nafsika Astir Palace di Vouliagmeni, in Grecia, il cronista investigativo Daniel Estulin ha svelato gli scioccanti particolari su quanto gli elitisti avrebbero in programma di fare in ambito economico nel corso del prossimo anno.

La riunione del gruppo Bilderberg è un confab che coinvolge ogni anno circa 150 dei “power broker” [mediatori di potere] più influenti al mondo nell’ambito del governo, dell’industria, del settore bancario, accademico e del complesso militare-industriale. Il gruppo segreto opera secondo le “regole della Chatham House”[1] , ossia nessun particolare di ciò che viene discusso può trapelare attraverso i media, nonostante il fatto che siano presenti alla riunione gli editori dei più grandi quotidiani al mondo come il Washington Post, il New York Times e il Financial Times.

Secondo le fonti di Estulin che si sono dimostrate estremamente accurate in passato, il gruppo Bilderberg è diviso sul da farsi, ossia se innescare “una prolungata, agonizzante depressione che condannerà il mondo a decadi di stagnazione, declino e povertà … oppure una depressione intensa ma più breve che aprirebbe la strada ad un nuovo ordine economico mondiale sostenibile, con minore sovranità ma maggiore efficienza”.

Tali informazioni acquistano maggiore rilevanza se si tiene conto del fatto che le precedenti previsioni economiche di Estulin basate su rivelazioni da parte delle stesse fonti, si sono dimostrate estremamente accurate. Estulin ha correttamente previsto il crollo del mercato immobiliare nonché il tracollo finanziario del 2008, dopo aver appreso dalle sue fonti all’interno di Bilderberg quello che l’elite stava programmando sulla base di quanto era stato detto durante la loro riunione in Canada del 2006 e della loro conferenza del 2007 in Turchia.

I particolari dell’ordine del giorno per l’economia erano contenuti in un libretto distribuito prima della riunione ai membri del gruppo. In modo specifico Estulin avverte che il gruppo Bilderberg starebbe incoraggiando una falsa immagine di ripresa economica, attirando gli investitori a reinvestire il capitale nel mercato azionario per scatenare poi successivamente un’altra massiccia fase di contrazione che creerà “grosse perdite e una grave sofferenza finanziaria nei mesi a venire”, secondo una relazione del Canada Free Press.

Secondo Estulin il gruppo Bilderberg stima che le cifre relative alla disoccupazione negli USA raggiungeranno il 14% entro la fine dell’anno, quindi il doppio dell’attuale cifra ufficiale dell’8,1 per cento.

Le fonti di Estulin gli avrebbero inoltre detto che Bilderberg proverà ancora a fare pressioni per la promulgazione del Trattato di Lisbona, un tassello chiave del piano per consolidare appieno un superstato federale europeo, costringendo l’Irlanda a votare nuovamente su tale documento a settembre/ottobre, nonostante lo abbia già rifiutato insieme ad altre nazioni europee nei referendum nazionali.

Secondo quanto riferisce il CFP “una delle loro preoccupazioni è di affrontare e neutralizzare il movimento contrario al trattato di Lisbona chiamato “Libertas”, sotto la guida di Declan Ganley. Una delle mosse programmate da Bilderberg è l’uso di una campagna diffamatoria nei media americani, che suggerisca che Ganley è finanziato dai trafficanti di armi negli USA legati alle sfere militari statunitensi”.

Daniel Estulin, Jim Tucker ed altre fonti, che hanno infiltrato Bilderberg in passato hanno regolarmente fornito informazioni sull’ordine del giorno del gruppo che viene poi attuato sul palcoscenico mondiale, dando prova che l’organizzazione non è solo una “fabbrica di chiacchiere”, ma un importante foro per la pianificazione del nuovo ordine mondiale.

In effetti proprio il mese scorso il visconte belga nonché attuale presidente del gruppo Bilderberg Étienne Davignon, si è vantato che Bilderberg ha contribuito alla creazione dell’euro mettendo per la prima volta all’ordine del giorno una politica favorevole alla valuta unica all’inizio degli anni ‘90. Il programma del gruppo Bilderberg di un superstato federale europeo e di una valuta unica risale probabilmente persino a prima. Un’inchiesta della BBC ha portato alla luce documenti risalenti ai primi incontri del gruppo che hanno confermato che l’Unione Europea è stata un’invenzione del gruppo Bilderberg.

Nella primavera del 2002 quando i guerrafondai dell’amministrazione Bush facevano pressione affinché l’Iraq fosse invaso entro l’estate, i membri di Bilderberg hanno espresso il desiderio di ritardare l’attacco, che non fu lanciato fino al marzo dell’anno seguente.

Nel 2006 Estulin ha previsto che il mercato immobiliare negli USA sarebbe cresciuto senza limite prima che la bolla venisse fatta crudelmente scoppiare, come è precisamente successo.

Nel 2008 Estulin ha previsto che Bilderberg stesse creando le condizioni per una calamità finanziaria - proprio quello che è successo alcuni mesi dopo con il crollo della Lehman Brothers. Il Gruppo Bilderberg ha regolarmente gonfiato i muscoli per consolidare il suo ruolo di “kingmaker” [artefice di nomine ed elezioni]. L’organizzazione seleziona di routine i candidati alla presidenza e alla vice presidenza, nonché i primi ministri.

Bill Clinton e Tony Blair sono stati entrambi preparati dall’organizzazione segreta all’inizio degli anni ’90 prima che raggiungessero la prominenza.

Il candidato alla vice presidenza di Barack Obama, Joe Biden è stato scelto dal luminario di Bilderberg James A. Johnson, e anche il candidato alla vice presidenza di John Kerry nel 2004, John Edwards è stato consacrato dal gruppo dopo aver fatto un brillante discorso durante la conferenza del 2004. I presenti hanno persino infranto le regole applaudendo Edwards al termine di un discorso che ha fatto agli elitisti sulla politica americana. La scelta di Edwards fu scioccante per gli opinionisti dei mass media che si aspettavano con certezza che Dick Gephardt avrebbe ottenuto la carica. Il New York Post ha riportato persino che era stato scelto Gephardt e che venivano già attaccati degli adesivi con scritto “Kerry- Gephardt” sui veicoli della campagna presidenziale, prima che fossero tolti quando Edwards fu annunciato come vice di Kerry.

La relazione di un quotidiano portoghese del 2008 ha messo in luce il fatto che Pedro Santana Lopes e Jose Socrates hanno partecipato all’incontro del 2004 a Stresa, in Italia, prima che entrambi diventassero primo ministro del Portogallo. Svariate decisioni geopolitiche chiave sono state prese durante la riunione del gruppo Bilderberg dello scorso anno a Washington DC, ancora una volta a sottolineare che il confab è molto più di un incontro informale.

Come abbiamo riferito in quel momento, l’organizzazione era preoccupata che il prezzo del petrolio stesse aumentando troppo rapidamente dopo aver toccato i $150 dollari al barile e voleva assicurarsi che “i prezzi del petrolio iniziassero probabilmente a scendere”. Ed è proprio ciò che è avvenuto nella seconda metà del 2008 quando il petrolio è sceso sotto i $50 dollari al barile. Siamo stati in grado di prevedere precocemente il rapido aumento dei prezzi del petrolio nel 2005, quando il petrolio era sceso a $40 dollari al barile, perché il gruppo Bilderberg aveva auspicato un aumento dei prezzi nel corso della riunione di quell’anno a Monaco di Baviera. Durante la conferenza in Germania, Henry Kissinger ha detto agli altri presenti che l’elite aveva deciso di assicurarsi che i prezzi del petrolio raddoppiassero nel corso dei 12-24 mesi successivi, che è esattamente ciò che è successo.

Inoltre durante l’incontro dello scorso anno, l’ex segretario di stato degli Stati Uniti Condoleezza Rice ha formalizzato con il ministro degli esteri ceco Karel Schwarzenberg i programmi per la firma di un trattato sull’istallazione di una base radar statunitense nella Repubblica Ceca.

Insieme alla Rice era presente all’incontro il segretario alla difesa Robert Gates, che secondo quanto riportato avrebbe incoraggiato i globalisti dell’EU a sostenere un attacco contro l’Iran. E guarda caso, proprio giorni dopo l’Unione europea ha minacciato l’Iran con sanzioni qualora non avesse sospeso il suo programma di arricchimento nucleare.

C’è stata inoltre molta speculazione che anche “l’incontro segreto” tra Hillary Clinton e Barack Obama, che è stato messo in atto con tattiche di spionaggio come rinchiudere i giornalisti in un aereo per impedire che raggiungessero i due politici, avrebbe avuto luogo durante la conferenza Bilderberg nel Distretto di Columbia.

Non resta che vedere quale copertura mediatica sarà riservata sui media principali alla conferenza Bilderberg del 2009, perché nonostante le prove che questa abbia un ruolo centrale nell’influenzare i successivi eventi geopolitici e finanziari nel mondo, e nonostante il fatto che la conferenza dell’anno scorso sia stata tenuta a Washington DC, i media corporativi hanno mantenuto un divieto quasi assoluto di fare reportage sulla conferenza, sui presenti e su quanto è stato discusso.

Ancora una volta sarà compito dei media alternativi riempire il vuoto ed educare la gente su ciò che i globalisti hanno esattamente in programma per noi per l’anno a venire.

Che esisteva la bolla - e che prima o poi sarebbe scoppiata - lo si diceva e scriveva ben prima dal 2006.
Ma a parte questo, tutto l'articolo è un cumulo di scemenze.
Per essere presi sul serio, bisogna indicare piani precisi e i tempi con cui tali piani si realizzeranno.
L'articolo dice che, o ci sarà una grave crisi, o la crisi sarà più sopportabile ma si passerà a un sistema economico diverso. Diverso quanto? In che cosa? Non è dato sapere...

che poi a livello mondiale esistano dei gruppi più o meno segreti che si combattono a suon di nomine ed equilibri politico/finanziari... beh a me sembra chiaro come il sole; comunque lo scopo di questo thread non è quello di esprimere le nostre opinioni ma quello di raccogliere materiale (ovviamente non banale) su quella che può essere la parte meno conosciuta degli equilibri della finanza mondiale
